The graphics were garbage and looked EVEN WORSE than American Wasteland. I did enjoy it for a bit, but it did just end up annoying me because the challenges were repetitive and the game was almost unplayable, certainly in comparison to the high standard of the earlier games.
Double tab grabs, and a great variety of special tricks that you could customise. A lot of the Tony Hawk's games had an Easter Egg in where a man would be about to shag a goat.

Big levels, full of charm, stories and cheesy characters voiced terribly. Wallrides that seem to vary in angle and distance based on how you're travelling or what angle you jump at it at. A great, well revised and developed engine for fast paced solid gameplay. The get the balls out of the pool minigame was rubbish. Just a small thing like that, referencing a band, added a lot of personality. I remember in Project 8 you had a similar challenge, but the gameplay was way more fun and responsive, and it was to "smash the pumpkins". They brought in collecting rubbish as you go around the levels, knocking down barrels, and stuff like that. The only time the game was fun/funny/encouraged a good combo was big head mode, which got old quickly. I did buy the game (against the judgement of everyone else in the community) so maybe I was just trying to justify why I forked out my hard earned cash for such mediocrity. I thought the same initially, I thought the hatred was unwarrented. TLDR The game blows ass and plays nothing like older Tony Hawk games. I could go on, but this is long enough as is. Pro Skater 2/2X are my favorite Tony Hawk games, I would have loved for THPS5 to feel anything like it, like you say it does, but that isn't the case. Even after the fixes, the collision and physics are still janky feeling, and often don't mesh well with the game's goals. The game also launched in a horribly broken state, crashes and game breaking bugs were frequent, so first impressions were very poor.
The goals are recycled throughout levels over and over again, no level has any unique goals to go with it's theme. Then we have the lie that was the "create a skater" feature, where you still had to use a pro skater's moveset instead of something unique, with very limited cosmetic customization too. The levels are barren and empty, there's no life in them, they're boringly designed, and some of them (Bonfire Beach, Rooftops, etc.) don't flow well at all. Cold and lifeless and then you see someone approach the corpse and pick him up, only to rip the organs out and replace them with sewage and parade the body around asking for money. You see their mangled corpse in the street. You know they’re not gonna make it, you know they are wasting their last breath. This game is like watching your childhood friend you’ve grown up with get into a fatal car crash and you watch him slowly crawl out of the wreck just bleeding to death. The game is a shallow, gutless, heartless, soulless piece of industrial garbage that does not feel like a tony hawk game that we all love and grew up with. Pro Skater 5 is an example of what gaming has become, a shallowed out corpse that only exists to make money. It’s an utter betrayal of what the tony hawk games are and destroyed any hope for the franchise, it is a complete failure that has the audacity to slap the name of Pro Skater on the cover as if to say it stands amongst one of the greatest fucking game franchises ever made.
